Croatian Parliament budget amendment debates

Overview

The Croatian Parliament is engaged in debates regarding amendments to the proposed state budget rebalance, as well as budgets for Croatian Waters and Croatian Roads.

The Homeland Movement (DP) has proposed several measures focused on demographic support, regional development, and cultural preservation. These include providing 6 million euros for vehicle subsidies for large families, allocating 2 million euros for the expansion of the marina in Vukovar, and redirecting funds to support the agricultural sector, specifically grain storage and the dairy industry. The party also proposed redirecting funds from the State Statistical Office and the Agency for Personal Data Protection to support religious institutions and local parishes.

In contrast, the opposition, led by the Social Democratic Party (SDP), submitted 31 amendments totaling approximately 32 million euros. Their proposals prioritize increased funding for healthcare, education, student standards, social welfare, and local infrastructure, including the housing of victims of domestic violence.
