Croatia to invest 3.53 million euros in NIAS digital system upgrade
The Croatian Ministry of Justice, Administration and Digital Transformation is launching a 3.53 million euro project to upgrade the NIAS system. The initiative aims to enhance the quality and accessibility of electronic services, fostering digital transformation for both the economy and civil society organizations.
Partnering with Fina and the Agency for Support of Information Systems and Information Technologies (APIS IT), the project is funded through the Competitiveness and Cohesion 2021-2027 program. Approximately 85 percent of the total value is provided through non-refundable grants, with the remaining 15 percent covered by national co-financing.
Scheduled to run from March 2026 to March 2029, the project focuses on improving security, reliability, and user experience for digital services. Key objectives include enabling cross-border interoperability through the eIDAS framework, allowing users from other EU member states to use their electronic identities. The scope of work involves technical and business analyses, legal framework preparation, and the pilot integration of the first 12 e-services.
