Croatia unveils €47 million agricultural loan programme and county‑funded soil‑analysis project

From autumn, Croatia will make available new agricultural financing instruments worth almost €47 million. Loans from HBOR and HAMAG‑BICRO will range from €1,000 to €150,000, with up to 45 % of the principal written off – and 50 % for young farmers – at interest rates as low as 0.1 % and repayment terms of up to ten years. The funding targets sensitive sectors such as dairy, meat, livestock, beekeeping, fruit and vegetable production, allowing investments in modern equipment, irrigation, greenhouses and digitalisation.

In the Brodsko‑Posavska County, a €60,000 project to provide basic chemical soil analyses for family farms will be co‑financed by the county (50 %), local municipalities (30 %) and the farmers themselves (20 %). The analyses will be accompanied by fertilisation recommendations to improve soil fertility across the region.
