Croatian CROBEX index extends multi‑day rally as European and US markets hit record highs

The CROBEX index on the Zagreb Stock Exchange continued its upward streak, posting a gain of roughly 0.2‑0.4% to push the index just above the 4,000‑point level for a seventh consecutive trading day. Sectoral moves were mixed: the transport sector led with a 1.12% rise, while construction held steady and industry slipped marginally into negative territory. Liquidity remained modest at about €1.8 million, with Končar the most heavily traded stock, attracting over €1 million in turnover, followed by AD Plastika, Dalekovod and Span. Croatia osiguranje posted the biggest intra‑day price jump among the liquid stocks, while Granolie suffered the steepest decline.

Broker Boris Bakalić of OTP Bank noted that “leading indices yesterday tracked movements on European exchanges, but with a smaller percentage rise than European benchmarks,” adding that “we expect CROBEX to keep rising.” His comment reflects broader market optimism, driven by a recent easing of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East that lowered oil prices and strong first‑quarter earnings from AI‑linked companies. European benchmarks such as the FTSE, DAX and CAC climbed 2‑3%, and US indices (Dow Jones, S&P 500, Nasdaq) hit new record levels, reinforcing the positive sentiment that spilled over to Croatia’s market.
