Croatian Herzegovina marks 34th anniversary of Lipanjske zore liberation operation

On 7 June 1992 the Croatian‑led "Čagalj‑Lipanjske zore" operation, commanded by General Janko Bobetko, broke the siege of the Neretva valley, liberated the city of Mostar and secured surrounding towns in Herzegovina. The two‑day offensive involved HVO and HV units, resulted in ten HV casualties and the capture of enemy armour.

In 2024 the 34th anniversary was commemorated in the village of Čeljevo, Bosnia‑Herzegovina. A ceremony at the memorial site featured wreath‑laying, candles and speeches from local officials, including Mayor Raguž, who said: "Lipanjske zore započele su prije 34 godine … i označile početak oslobodilačkih djelovanja koja su bila prekretnica za dolinu Neretve, Čapljinu, Stolac, Mostar i širi prostor hrvatske Hercegovine." The event honoured fallen defenders and stressed the duty of younger generations to remember the struggle for freedom.
