Croatian Ministry Offers 700 Language Scholarships to International Students
The Ministry of Demography and Migration announced up to 700 scholarships for learning Croatian in the 2026/27 academic year, split between 335 winter and 365 summer places. Applicants must be adults with a high‑school diploma, eligible as descendants of Croatians or spouses, and can study at the faculties of philosophy in Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Osijek, Pula and the University of Zadar.
Candidates come from 24 countries, with the largest groups from Argentina (about a quarter of all awards) and Chile, followed by Peru, Bolivia, the United States and others such as Ecuador, Venezuela, Brazil, New Zealand, Russia, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Israel, Morocco, Libya and France. Scholarships cover course fees, subsidised meals and a €400 monthly allowance for accommodation. The ministry published a provisional scoring list for 386 candidates and set an eight‑day objection period ending on 12 August 2026, after which the final list will be confirmed.
