Croatian Olympic Committee funds 22 vans for local sports
The Croatian Olympic Committee (HOO) has allocated 330,000 euros to support the purchase of 22 vans through its ‘Active Communities’ program. The initiative aims to facilitate the transport of athletes to training sessions, preparations, and competitions.
The funding is split equally between sports associations and individual sports clubs. Beneficiaries include the Bjelovarsko-Bilogorska County Sports Association, as well as sports associations from cities such as Bjelovara, Čakovca, Jastrebarskog, Karlovca, Knin, Našica, Popovača, Varaždin, Velika Gorica, and Virovitica. Additionally, clubs from Buzet, Dubrovnik, Gornje Stubice, Gospić, Skrad, Solin, Split, Šibenik, Vodica, and Zagreb received support.
HOO President Josip Varvodić emphasized that supporting local-level sports is essential as it forms the foundation of the Croatian sporting system. The program, which has been active since May 2010, relies on partnerships with counties and cities to meet the logistical needs of local athletic communities.
