Croatian Olympic Committee President investigates Antolić hiring
Josip Varvodić, President of the Croatian Olympic Committee (HOO), has announced an investigation into the employment of Krešimir Antolić, the former security director of Dinamo Zagreb. Antolić was reportedly hired by acting Secretary General Mihael Trkulja while Varvodić was traveling in Japan.
Although Varvodić clarified that employment contracts are formally signed by the Secretary General rather than the President, he stated that such decisions should require his prior consent given the current challenges facing the organization. Varvodić intends to determine the circumstances of the hiring and take necessary steps, which may include terminating Antolić's employment.
Reports suggest that Antolić's hiring was linked to previous discussions regarding his potential role within the HOO. While there were prior agreements to consider his employment only after a new organizational restructuring, the hiring occurred prematurely. The situation involves influential figures in Croatian sports, including Zoran Gobac, who reportedly supported the appointment.
