Croatian Olympic Committee leadership and administrative Tur

Overview

The Croatian Olympic Committee (HOO) has undergone leadership changes and internal scrutiny. Initially, HOO President Josip Varvodić announced an investigation into the hiring of Krešimir Antolić, the former security director of Dinamo Zagreb. Varvodić stated that while the Secretary General formally signs employment contracts, such decisions should have required his prior consent. The investigation aimed to determine the circumstances of the hiring, which reportedly occurred prematurely during a period of organizational restructuring.

Following these developments, acting Secretary General Mihael Trkulja resigned at his own request. The HOO Council subsequently appointed Milan Pavelić as the new acting Secretary General. As part of this transition, the Council canceled a previously announced public competition for the Secretary General position to launch a new recruitment process.

Amidst these administrative shifts, President Varvodić also announced a new cooperation agreement with the Olympic Council of Asia to explore investments in Croatian sports infrastructure, including the potential construction of an Olympic center.
