Croatian Pension Insurance Institute resolves cyberattack on contact center app

The Croatian Pension Insurance Institute (HZMO) has resolved a cybersecurity incident affecting its ‘HZMO Live – Contact Center’ application. Following digital forensics and analysis, the institute has restored secure communication with users.

HZMO stated that the core information system was not compromised, and business processes, including pension payments and the exercise of insurance rights, remain unaffected. National cybersecurity and personal data protection authorities are involved in the investigation. Users whose personal data may have been compromised will be notified via email with instructions on protective measures.

In contrast to the official report, the Serbian hacking group ‘INF Grupa’ claims to have breached the database and stolen the personal data of 105,000 Croatian citizens. The group framed the attack as a response to recent events in Croatia. Authorities and the National CERT have advised citizens to exercise increased caution regarding suspicious phone calls, messages, and emails requesting personal or financial information.
