Cyberattack on Croatian Pension Insurance Institute

Overview

The Croatian Pension Insurance Institute (HZMO) addressed a cybersecurity incident involving its ‘HZMO Live – Contact Center’ application. While HZMO reported that its core information systems and pension payment processes remained unaffected, the Serbian hacking group ‘INF Grupa’ claimed to have breached the database and stolen the personal data of 105,000 Croatian citizens.

National cybersecurity and personal data protection authorities are investigating the incident. Authorities and the National CERT have advised citizens to remain vigilant against suspicious communications requesting personal or financial information. HZMO stated that users whose data may have been compromised will be notified via email with instructions on protective measures.
