On Monday, 27 July 2026, temporary users received keys to 209 apartments in 11 newly built multi‑storey blocks in the towns of Sisak and Petrinja. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Branko Bačić, county officials and local leaders.

The state allocated more than €30 million for the construction of these buildings. Residents will occupy the units rent‑free and the government will subsidise utility costs. After the reconstruction of their damaged homes is completed, the apartments will be transferred to the affordable‑housing programme for young families and deficit occupations.

To date the post‑earthquake housing programme in Sisačko‑Moslavačka County has produced 57 new multi‑storey buildings, with two more in the final phase, bringing the total planned stock to 1,024 new homes across 59 buildings. Reconstruction spending in the county has reached €5 billion, €3 billion of which has been spent in Zagreb. The three‑building project in Sisak, providing 57 apartments, is valued at €8 million (including VAT) and the municipality contributed roughly €250 000 for associated road works. The overall programme is described as entering its final quarter, with the aim of completing all reconstruction by the end of next year.
