Croatian police conduct drug‑prevention education for drivers and youth
On 26 June, police officers from the Varaždin Police Department held a practical training session for driving‑school candidates in Varaždin. Participants tried “drunk glasses” that mimic the effects of alcohol and drugs, learned about the four main traffic killers – speed, alcohol, seat‑belt non‑use and mobile‑phone use – and received safety badges and leaflets.
In Zadar, police officers from the city’s prevention unit organized a public outreach event at the City Gallery as part of the national “Healthy for 5” project. Together with the Zadar Public Health Institute and local NGOs, they gave talks and workshops on the dangers of drug abuse, its link to secondary crime, and healthy lifestyle alternatives for young people. Materials from local safety campaigns were distributed to citizens and school students.
Both activities were timed to mark the International Day against drug abuse and illegal drug trafficking, aiming to raise awareness of substance‑related risks in traffic and everyday life.
