Croatian police seize vehicles and jail repeat traffic offenders

Police in Croatia have arrested several repeat traffic offenders for serious violations, including driving under the influence, operating vehicles without a licence and fleeing police. Courts have sentenced the offenders to short-term imprisonment ranging from 30 to 50 days and imposed monetary fines between €1,320 and €2,650. In many cases the courts ordered the permanent or temporary seizure of the offenders' cars – notably BMWs and other personal vehicles – and imposed driving bans from three months up to one year. The incidents occurred in the Zagreb area and nearby towns such as Petrinja, Velika Kosnica, Kalnik and Križ. The judiciary has largely upheld the police‑proposed penalties, signalling a reinforced crackdown on dangerous driving in the country.
