Zagreb police use drone surveillance to catch 54 traffic violations

Zagreb police deployed a drone to monitor traffic at the busy Zagreb‑East junction on 25 June 2026. The aerial patrol recorded 54 offences, chiefly illegal lane changes and maneuvers intended to avoid congestion. Drivers identified by the drone will receive fine notices at their home addresses, as police aim to deter unsafe driving even when officers are not physically present.

Authorities said the operation is part of a broader effort to improve road safety ahead of the peak tourist season, when traffic volumes on highways to the coast increase sharply. Police indicated that similar drone checks will continue at locations with high traffic loads and frequent violations.
