Croatia's summer film events: extended Ivanovec camp deadline and Vrboska festival opening

The Ivanovec Film Camp in Croatia has extended its application deadline to 8 August. Free workshops will run from 10 to 15 August at the local cultural centre, targeting children, youth and students. Two thematic workshops are offered – a narrative film workshop led by Stjepan Petković and Živko Žigmund, and a documentary workshop led by Marina Šegan – guiding participants through the full creative process from idea to finished film.

President Zoran Milanović and his wife Sanja attended the opening of the third Vrboska Film Festival on the island of Hvar. The four‑day international short‑film festival runs from 1 to 4 August, featuring screenings, workshops, a children’s programme and a special award, the Plava palma. The opening ceremony included a performance by the Lantina Association and a display of traditional wooden sailing boats.

Both events aim to promote short‑film creation, develop new talent and broaden cultural access beyond major urban centres.
