Croce Rossa Italiana launches volunteer training and health screenings

The Italian Red Cross (Croce Rossa Italiana) is launching several community-focused initiatives in the Lombardy and Liguria regions.

In Lomazzo, the local Red Cross committee is opening a new training course for volunteers starting September 10, 2026. The program is open to individuals aged 14 and older, including students, workers, and retirees. Beyond emergency medical services, the training covers social services, support for the elderly and children, and social transport services.

In the Ventimiglia area, the Red Cross is restarting its ‘Oasi della Salute’ (Oases of Health) project. This initiative brings free primary health screenings to inland villages, such as Castelvittorio and Isolabona, to improve accessibility for populations far from major medical centers. Volunteers will provide screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, oxygen saturation, heart rate, and cardiovascular assessments.
