Crocodile Sightings Near Villahermosa Park and Oaxaca Beach Prompt Safety Warnings
Residents of the Magisterial colony in Villahermosa, Tabasco posted warning signs after crocodiles were reported near the local park adjacent to the Laguna de las Ilusiones. The coordinator of Tabasco's Civil Protection Institute, Armando Pulido Pardo, said the authorities will repair damaged metal fences and improve infrastructure to keep the reptiles in their natural habitat and protect the public.
In Oaxaca, two large crocodiles emerged from the sea onto the sand of Playa Ventanilla, attracting tourists who recorded the incident on their phones. The Federal Prosecutor for Environmental Protection (Profepa) reminded that crocodiles are protected wildlife in Mexico and warned people not to approach, feed, capture, or harm the animals, noting that doing so is a federal crime punishable by prison and fines.
