Crotone health authority signs agreement to embed family doctors in community centers

The Azienda Sanitaria Provinciale (ASP) of Crotone signed an Integrative Corporate Agreement with the FIMMG trade union to place general practitioners inside the region’s new Case di Comunità (Community Houses). The pact, signed by ASP director‑general Antonio Graziano, interim health director Lucio Cosentino, administrative director Elisabetta Tripodi, district director Giovanni Rossano and union representatives Rosalbino Cerra and Piero Vasapollo, implements part of the PNRR investment in local health facilities.

Under the agreement, family doctors will work Monday‑Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. within the Community Houses, supported by nursing staff, administrative personnel and telemedicine tools for shared medical records and patient monitoring. The service will handle non‑urgent care, minor codes, occasional visits and first‑level diagnostics, while emergencies remain routed to emergency departments. The plan also includes dementia‑screening programmes, telemonitoring for nursing‑home residents and a compensation scheme for doctors providing these services. Implementation steps, such as defining shift schedules with functional territorial aggregations, are being finalised.
