Crotone to honor Davide Ferrerio on fourth anniversary of assault

On the fourth anniversary of the brutal assault on Davide Ferrerio, the Municipality of Crotone has announced it will award him a Special Mention for civic merit. The ceremony is scheduled for August 21 at the “Falcone e Borsellino” Council Chamber.

Ferrerio was victimized during a family vacation in Crotone on August 11, 2022, in a tragic case of mistaken identity. He has remained in an irreversible coma since the incident. Mayor Voce described the event as a “deep wound” for the community, noting that the award serves as a way to remember the future that was stolen from him.

In Bologna, Mayor Matteo Lepore issued an open letter expressing the city's continued solidarity with the Ferrerio family. Lepore emphasized that the community refuses to abandon the family, noting that the tragedy remains an “open wound” for Bologna due to the victim's deep ties to the city and his passion for the local football club.
