Commemoration of Davide Ferrerio assault

Overview

On the fourth anniversary of a brutal assault on Davide Ferrerio, the Municipality of Crotone announced it would award him a Special Mention for civic merit. On August 21, the municipality held a ceremony in the Council Chamber to present the award. Mayor Vincenzo Voce stated the intention is to transform pain into “memory, awareness, and responsibility,” using Ferrerio’s story as a warning against violence and as an educational tool in schools. The event was attended by Ferrerio’s family and Monsignor Pino Caiazzo, who noted the profound impact the tragedy has had on the community.
