Crvena Zvezda fans stage tribute to convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić

Supporters of the Serbian football club FK Crvena Zvezda, known as Delije, staged a choreographed tribute to Ratko Mladić, a convicted war criminal, during a match on September 6. The display included a choreography featuring Mladić's likeness and the phrase ‘Pravac Potočari’, a reference to his words upon entering Srebrenica in 1995 during the genocide against Bosniaks.

The incident has drawn sharp condemnation. Erol Avdović, the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Belgium, criticized the act, stating that such displays are not merely the actions of uninformed individuals but represent a dangerous political sentiment in Serbia.

The glorification of Mladić has also led to backlash from long-time club supporters. One supporter, who had followed the club for over 50 years, publicly announced his decision to sever ties with the club, symbolically discarding his scarf and jersey in protest of the tribute to the convicted war criminal.
