Crystal Temptations recalls Halloween chocolate eyeballs over milk allergy risk

Crystal Temptations, a New Jersey-based candy company, has issued a recall for its “Chocolatey Eyeballs” Halloween candy due to undeclared milk allergens. The product contains whey, which was not disclosed on the packaging labels.

The candy was sold at various TJX-owned retailers, including Marshalls, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, and Sierra Trading Post. Distribution spanned 13 U.S. states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and Wyoming.

The recall was initiated after a TJX analyst identified the labeling error. An investigation attributed the oversight to a “temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes.” While the FDA warns that individuals with milk allergies could face serious or life-threatening reactions, no illnesses have been reported to date. Consumers are advised to destroy the product and contact Crystal Temptations for a refund.
