Crystal Temptations Halloween candy recall
Overview
Crystal Temptations, a New Jersey-based candy company, has issued a recall for its ‘Chocolatey Eyeballs’ Halloween candy due to undeclared milk allergens. The recall was prompted after a TJX analyst discovered that the product contained whey, an ingredient not disclosed on the packaging.
The FDA attributed the labeling error to a ‘temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes.’ The affected candy was distributed across 13 U.S. states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and Wyoming. The product was sold at TJX-owned retailers, including Marshalls, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, and Sierra Trading Post.
Recent details specify that the recall includes five distinct package styles, ranging from 7-ounce acrylic boxes to 16-ounce designer plastic pouches. While no illnesses have been reported, the FDA warned that individuals with milk allergies or severe sensitivities could face serious or life-threatening reactions. Consumers are advised to destroy the products and contact the company directly for refunds.
