CSIF petitions EU to investigate Ceuta crisis management

The Central Sindical Independiente y de Funcionarios (CSIF) has formally requested that the European Parliament's Committee on Petitions launch an investigation into the Spanish administration's management of the crisis in Ceuta.

A delegation led by president Miguel Borra traveled to Brussels to meet with Commission representatives, alleging that structural deficiencies and a chronic lack of personnel have led to a collapse of public services. The union claims these conditions constitute a violation of European Union law, specifically citing the Charter of Fundamental Rights and the Framework Directive on Safety and Health at Work.

Furthermore, CSIF alleges non-compliance with Schengen Border Code regulations regarding the provision of adequate personnel for external border controls, as well as breaches of EU screening regulations concerning triage deadlines and Frontex protocols.
