CT-157 Siskin II aircraft arrive in Moose Jaw for RCAF training

Four CT-157 Siskin II turboprop advanced training aircraft have arrived at 15 Wing Moose Jaw in Saskatchewan. While these specific aircraft are designated for training purposes, they are the same model selected to eventually replace the aging CT-114 Tutor jets used by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.

The Royal Canadian Air Force plans to accumulate a total of 19 Siskin II aircraft over the coming years to modernize its training fleet. The transition aims to provide student aviators with access to modern technologies, such as fully digital cockpits, to ensure they are prepared for the future of aviation.

Despite some discussion regarding the shift from twin-engine jets to single-engine turboprops, military officials noted the aircraft's high performance capabilities. Instructors will undergo training on the new models before they are fully integrated into the training streams.
