Côte d'Ivoire advances infrastructure and World Bank project targets

Côte d'Ivoire is advancing major infrastructure and economic development goals through strategic financing and improved project management. The Abidjan Metro project, originally conceived in the 1970s and revitalized by President Alassane Ouattara in 2011, aims to modernize urban transport. The project is designed to serve over 540,000 daily passengers between Anyama and the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport, addressing road congestion and pollution across seven communes.

In tandem with infrastructure projects, the Ivorian government is focusing on the efficient use of international development funds. Minister of Economy, Finance and Budget Adama Coulibaly announced a target to reach a disbursement rate of at least 32% for the World Bank-funded project portfolio by June 30, 2027. This represents approximately 470 billion CFA francs. The portfolio includes 25 active operations spanning sectors such as agriculture, energy, digital technology, and urban development.
