Côte d’Ivoire boosts food safety workshop and holiday activity regulations

From 29 June to 3 July 2026, Abidjan hosted the 4th African Workshop on Food Safety, organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency together with the Ivorian government. Around 30 African nations and international organisations participated, discussing nuclear and isotopic techniques for food analysis, contaminant control, SPS measures and standards harmonisation, while showcasing the Ivorian attieké project that documents quality and traceability of the fermented cassava flour.

On 30 June 2026 the Ivorian Ministry of Tourism and Leisure announced that over 100 entities have now been officially declared to organise children’s holiday activities. The reform, presented by Mamadou Kéita, aims to tighten regulation of collective leisure for minors, requiring authorized permits, civil‑liability insurance, a pedagogical programme, qualified staff and safe transport. Ministry inspections will monitor compliance, with sanctions—including closure—available for non‑compliant operators.
