Côte d'Ivoire seeks private investment and youth jobs in 2026‑2030 development plan
The Ivorian government unveiled its 2026‑2030 National Development Plan (PND), targeting an average 7.2% annual growth and a total budget of 114,838.5 billion CFA francs. The plan calls on the private sector to finance roughly 70% of the programme—about 80,614.7 billion CFA francs—covering agro‑industry, energy, mining, transport, education and health.
At the same time, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) presented recommendations at the AFW 2026 youth forum in Abidjan. The IFC urged the inclusion of a “Youth Clause” in large infrastructure projects to allocate funding for certified training of local youth, and the creation of micro‑guarantee funds to ease financing for young entrepreneurs. It emphasized measuring success by the number of durable jobs created, noting, “Le véritable indicateur de réussite demeure l’accès à un emploi décent et durable.” The agency also called for stronger innovation ecosystems, better university‑industry links, and revised eligibility criteria for youth‑focused funding.
