Côte d’Ivoire launches 40 digital projects and hosts BuildExpo construction fair

On 11 June 2026, Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Digital Transition and Technological Innovation Djibril Ouattara outlined a national digital roadmap built on seven strategic pillars. The plan includes 40 sector‑wide projects aimed at expanding connectivity, fully digitising public administration, regulating artificial intelligence, strengthening cybersecurity, developing youth technical skills and modernising the postal service for e‑commerce. At the end of 2025 the country recorded 60.7 million mobile subscriptions and 38.5 million active mobile‑internet users, supporting the ambition to become West Africa’s leading tech hub.

From 9‑11 June, Abidjan hosted the second edition of BuildExpo, an international building, construction and technology exhibition. More than 450 brands from 13 countries gathered under the theme “Industrialisation of construction materials and massive housing construction”. Government representative Kouadio Pokou Marius highlighted the urgent national housing deficit and cited the presidential programme to build 150 000 social‑housing units by 2030, with an initial phase of 25 000 units already under way.
