Côte d'Ivoire opposition adopts joint proposal for new electoral body
Ivorian opposition parties have reached a consensus on a proposal for a new electoral body. The agreement was finalized on October 3, 2026, during a working session held at the headquarters of the Parti des peuples africains – Côte d'Ivoire (PPA-CI).
Participating groups include the Haut Conseil électoral (HCE), the Coalition pour l'alternance pacifique en Côte d'Ivoire (CAP-CI), the PPA-CI, and the Mouvement politique Aujourd'hui et demain, la Côte d'Ivoire (ADCI). The coalition plans to officially submit their proposal to the Ministry of the Interior and Security on Monday, October 5, 2026.
This collaborative effort follows the dissolution of the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) by President Alassane Ouattara and the subsequent opening of consultations regarding a new electoral architecture for the country.
