Côte d’Ivoire seeks North American investment and critical mineral funding
Côte d’Ivoire is actively seeking to diversify its economic partnerships and secure investment in strategic sectors. The third edition of the Côte d’Ivoire-North America Business and Investment Forum (CINAB Forum) was held in Abidjan on October 13-14, 2026. The forum aims to foster economic ties with the United States, Canada, and Mexico, focusing on local value chains, innovation, and technology transfer. Senate President Kandia Camara called on North American investors to explore opportunities in infrastructure, industry, and agricultural raw material processing.
In the mining sector, British firm Appian Capital Advisory announced plans to allocate approximately $2.5 billion in development capital over five years toward its global critical minerals portfolio. While the specific allocation for Africa was not detailed, the firm's activities include financing the Tongon gold mine in Côte d’Ivoire. This follows a previous initiative with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to mobilize up to $1 billion for emerging markets, including Africa and Latin America.
