Côte d'Ivoire to deploy agents to combat vehicle inspection fraud

The Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs in Côte d'Ivoire has announced a new measure to combat fraud in vehicle technical inspections. Starting October 1, 2026, an agent will be deployed to every fixed or mobile inspection site in the country to ensure procedural compliance.

Oumar Sacko, Director General of Land Transport and Traffic (DGTTC), stated that these agents will verify the physical presence of vehicles and personally apply a new secure sticker, which is intended to replace the current PVC format. The reform includes the implementation of a digital traceability platform designed to track vehicle registration, inspection validity, results, and sticker numbers in real time.

The initiative aims to prevent vehicles from obtaining certificates without undergoing actual inspections. Before the full rollout, the government plans to conduct a pilot phase, agent training, and a broad awareness campaign.
