CTET 2026 exam postponed following Supreme Court directive
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) scheduled for September 6, 2026, has been postponed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). This decision follows a Supreme Court directive emphasizing that eligible teachers must be provided a fair opportunity to meet legal qualification requirements.
Following the postponement, the application window for the CTET has been extended. Candidates can now apply online via the official website from August 25 until September 1, 2026. A new exam date will be announced once the application portal closes.
The postponement addresses concerns in Maharashtra, where the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) had scheduled its Bailiff-cum-Clerk (Group-C) exam for the same day, September 6. Candidates enrolled in both exams faced significant logistical challenges and travel conflicts due to potentially different exam centers in various cities.
