Cuba and Chile celebrate environmental achievements with award ceremonies

In Granma province, Cuba, officials marked World Environment Day on June 5 with a provincial ceremony that honored institutions, researchers and cultural figures for contributions to conservation, climate monitoring and sustainable development. Recipients included the Agroecological Garden La Rosita‑AGROBIO PDL, the Cupaynicú Botanical Garden, university environmental chairs and the provincial meteorological center, as well as specialists such as Dr. Anisleydis Chacón Fonseca and poet Lucía Muñoz Maceo.

In Punta Arenas, Chile, six schools received the Ministry of the Environment’s Environmental School Certification. The ceremony, attended by regional presidential delegate Ericka Farías and environment secretary Gonzalo Rosenfeld, highlighted the role of early‑childhood education in fostering environmental awareness. Farías said, "We are very happy because schools truly care for the planet from the first stages of formation," while Rosenfeld noted the program now reaches more than 4,000 students in the region.
