Cuba and Russia sign cultural and sports cooperation protocol
Cuba and Russia have signed a bilateral protocol to strengthen cultural and sporting cooperation. The agreement was signed in Saint Petersburg by Cuban Deputy Minister of Culture Lizette Martínez Luzardo and her Russian counterpart, Andrei Maleshev, during the XII International Forum of United Cultures.
The protocol, part of the sixth session of the intergovernmental commission's working group, includes several specific initiatives. These involve exchanges in circus arts, mutual film screenings, and the exchange of film archives between Russia’s Gosfilmofond and Cuba’s Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC). Additionally, the two nations plan joint animation projects with the Soyuzmultfilm studio and exchanges between the Russian Museum and the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba.
In the realm of performing arts, the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) recently performed Giselle at the Mariinsky Theatre as part of the forum's activities. The agreement also ensures continued training for Cuban students in Russian artistic institutions and aims to develop the joint cultural and sports industries.
