Cuba-Russia cultural and sporting cooperation
Overview
Cuba and Russia have moved to formalize bilateral ties through a series of cultural, educational, and sporting agreements. Initial discussions and agreements focused on general exchanges in arts, literature, and sports development.
This cooperation was further solidified through a signed protocol in Saint Petersburg during the XII International Forum of United Cultures. The formal agreement expands the scope of partnership to include specific initiatives such as circus arts, mutual film screenings, and the exchange of film archives between Russia’s Gosfilmofond and Cuba’s Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry.
Additional components of the partnership include joint animation projects with the Soyuzmultfilm studio, museum exchanges, and continued training for Cuban students within Russian artistic institutions. Performing arts collaborations, such as the National Ballet of Cuba performing at the Mariinsky Theatre, have already commenced as part of these activities.
