Cuba Announces Baseball Squad for 2026 Santo Domingo Games

The Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation unveiled a 24‑player roster for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The team, coached by former star Germán Mesa, includes several participants from the recent World Baseball Classic as it aims to regain regional dominance and secure the sole qualification spot for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.

Cuba is placed in Group A with Curacao, Puerto Rico and the host nation, facing its first opponent on 31 July. The competition will be held at the Juan Marichal and Juan Pablo Duarte stadiums, with games limited to seven innings. Historically the island leads the baseball medal table with 15 titles, its last gold coming in 2014 and recent runner‑up finishes in 2018 and 2023.
