Cuba announces U23 baseball roster for 2026 World Cup

The Cuban Baseball Federation and Softball has officially announced the 45-player preliminary roster for the U23 national team. The squad is preparing for the VI U23 Baseball World Cup, which will be hosted in Nicaragua from November 6 to 15, 2026, with games scheduled in Managua, Masaya, and León.

Led by director Guillermo Carmona, the roster features a mix of domestic prospects from the National Series and players with international experience. Notably, 22-year-old catcher Danell Figueroa has been included in the selection. Figueroa, who began his career in Cuba and the Dominican Republic before playing in the United States professional circuits with the Texas Rangers organization and currently the Frontier League, is expected to bring diverse defensive and offensive experience to the team.

Cuba is placed in Group B alongside Great Britain, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, and Venezuela. Group A includes Australia, Czech Republic, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, and Chinese Taipei.
