Cuba enables online criminal record requests via Soberanía platform

Cuba's Ministry of Justice has launched an online service for requesting criminal record certificates through the Soberanía digital platform. This initiative allows citizens to manage the process from any internet-connected device without needing to visit the Central Registry of Sanctions in person.

To use the service, applicants must authenticate using a Certified Digital Identity, complete a form, and submit payment via enabled electronic platforms. The system allows users to track the status of their application and receive official notifications. Notably, the service is designed to operate without consuming mobile data, increasing accessibility for users across the country.

Under Resolution 284/2025, digital certificates issued through this method hold the same legal validity and efficacy as paper documents. Authenticity can be verified using a case code and PIN. While the digital option aims to increase administrative efficiency and reduce wait times, in-person services at the Central Registry of Sanctions remain available for those who prefer them or lack connectivity.
