Cuba expands digital government services via Soberanía platform

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz visited the Digital Government Center to review the progress of the Soberanía platform. The platform aims to increase the efficiency and transparency of public administration and services through digital technologies and data utilization.

After one year of operation, the platform offers 18 online services accessible via mobile devices or other connected hardware. Reported usage includes the verification of over 43,000 digital identities, more than 24,000 passport applications for adults, and nearly 40,000 civil status registrations.

Díaz-Canel noted that building citizen trust in the platform depends on the speed and effectiveness of resolving digital procedures. A key challenge remains the legitimization of digital documents, which, under Ministry of Justice Resolution 284, hold the same legal value as printed documents.
