Cuba extends aviation fuel shortage at ten international airports

Cuba has extended the shortage of Jet A-1 aviation fuel at ten international airports until November 1. The Empresa Cubana de Navegación Aérea (ECNA) issued notices confirming that the unavailability of fuel will persist, replacing previous notices that were set to expire on October 1. The affected locations include Havana, Varadero, Cienfuegos, Santa Clara, Camagüey, Cayo Coco, Holguín, Santiago de Cuba, Manzanillo, and Cayo Largo del Sur.

This fuel crisis, which has been ongoing since February, forces airlines to modify flight plans, evaluate aircraft autonomy, and organize technical stops outside of Cuba for refueling.

Separately, authorities at José Martí International Airport in Havana have reported ongoing rehabilitation works focused on the runway and taxiways. These maintenance efforts aim to meet international aeronautical safety standards and address previous infrastructure concerns. The current schedule of repairs is expected to be completed by October 19.
