Cuba finishes third in medal standings at Central American and Caribbean Games
Cuba finished third in the medal standings at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games held in Santo Domingo. The Cuban delegation secured 51 gold, 48 silver, and 46 to 56 bronze medals, placing behind Mexico and Colombia.
The achievement follows a preparation period marked by significant domestic challenges, including economic shortages and frequent power outages. The delegation consisted of 497 athletes competing across 42 sports. Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel noted that many athletes trained under these difficult conditions, emphasizing their resilience in representing the nation despite limited resources.
