Cuba receives humanitarian aid from U.S., Mexico, and CARICOM

Cuba is receiving multiple shipments of humanitarian aid as it faces a severe economic and energy crisis. A shipment from the United States, part of a $100 million aid package, has arrived in the Villa Clara province. Cáritas Santa Clara is distributing 700 food kits and 700 hygiene kits to vulnerable families in Quemado de Güines and Rancho Veloz.

Additionally, Cuba has received its thirteenth shipment of aid from Mexico, supported by donations from CARICOM member states. Cuban officials at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX) noted that this assistance arrives amid an intensified U.S. economic blockade and energy restrictions.

On the diplomatic front, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla used the BRICS summit in New Delhi to advocate for a more democratic international order and to denounce the impact of U.S. sanctions. Meanwhile, UN expert Zaina Jallad warned that unilateral sanctions are exacerbating humanitarian crises and violating human rights in countries like Cuba.
