Cuban Consul praises Union of Cubans Residents in Argentina

Cuban Consul Misleidys Reyes addressed the Union of Cubans Residents in Argentina (URCA) at its balance‑sheet assembly, commending the organization’s work since 2022. URCA, founded on 16 September 2005 and currently chaired by Erenia García, was highlighted as a cultural bridge, a source of solidarity, and a rapid responder to community needs. The Consul reiterated URCA’s opposition to the United States’ economic and financial blockade and praised its role in promoting Cuban culture and values in Argentina.

Reyes noted that recent Cuban economic reforms – a package of 176 measures – create new opportunities for overseas Cubans to invest, develop local projects, and contribute to Cuba’s scientific and socioeconomic development. She announced a National Meeting in November, which will also honor Fidel Castro on the centenary of his birth, and mentioned the upcoming election of nine members to select URCA’s next president.
