Cuban Solidarity Demonstrations Sweep Brazil's Major Cities

Popular movements in Brazil projected large solidarity messages for Cuba onto buildings in São Paulo, marking the start of a National Day of Solidarity with Cuba and commemorating the centenary of Fidel Castro. The projections, organized by groups including Alba Movimientos and the Paulista Solidarity with Cuba movement, displayed slogans such as “Defend Cuba, defend the sovereignty of peoples” and called for an end to the U.S. embargo.

In Brasília, a caravan organized by the Solidarity with Cuba movement toured the capital for about an hour, chanting slogans like “Viva Cuba”, “No to the blockade” and expressing support for the Venezuelan people and political prisoners. Activist Silvio Santana condemned U.S. sanctions and highlighted humanitarian impacts, while Cuban embassy counselor Idalmis Brooks thanked participants, saying the gestures strengthen Cuba’s resolve amid growing pressure.
