Cuba's Miguel Díaz-Canel announces new radio program

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has announced the upcoming launch of a new radio program titled ‘Criterio Compartido’ (Shared Criterion). The program will air on the state-run station Radio Rebelde, likely on a bi-weekly basis on Wednesdays.

Designed to foster dialogue regarding the reality of life in Cuba, the space aims to include citizen participation and address national problems, daily life, and public aspirations. The President indicated the program would serve as a channel for communication to build consensus and address public concerns through the involvement of experts and citizens.

The announcement comes as Cuba faces a severe economic crisis characterized by food and medicine shortages, frequent power outages, and transportation issues. The government is currently attempting to implement a package of 176 economic reforms intended to liberalize and decentralize the economy while maintaining the country's socialist framework.
