Cubatão: 17 dogs rescued from unsanitary conditions and animal cruelty

Seventeen dogs were rescued from an unsanitary residence in the Água Fria neighborhood of Cubatão, on the coast of São Paulo, following a judicial order. The animals were found in a property characterized by an accumulation of trash, feces, urine, and mud, with inadequate protection against weather conditions.

Most of the dogs were kept on extremely short chains, some measuring only 30 centimeters, or improvised ropes. Many animals showed injuries to their necks due to prolonged use of these restraints. The rescue operation was conducted with the support of the Military Police and animal protection groups after two months of monitoring and evidence gathering by the Instituto Eliseu.

The dogs have been taken to the Instituto Eliseu in Santos for veterinary evaluation and care. The case of animal cruelty has been officially registered at the 3rd Police District of Cubatão.
