Animal cruelty and rescue in Cubatão

Overview

In Cubatão, São Paulo, seventeen dogs were rescued from an unsanitary residence in the Água Fria neighborhood following a judicial order. The property was characterized by an accumulation of trash, feces, urine, and mud, providing inadequate protection against weather conditions.

Many of the animals were found on extremely short chains or improvised ropes, with some showing neck injuries from prolonged restraint. The rescue operation was conducted with support from the Military Police and animal protection groups after two months of monitoring and evidence gathering by the Instituto Eliseu. The dogs have been moved to the Instituto Eliseu in Santos for veterinary care, and the case has been officially registered at the 3rd Police District of Cubatão.
