Cuenca cosmetic distributors closed over sanitary irregularities

The National Agency for Regulation, Control and Sanitary Surveillance (Arcsa) has closed two cosmetic distributors in Cuenca following inspections that identified 7,436 products with sanitary irregularities.

In the Bellavista parish, authorities immobilized 7,201 items. Violations included hair dyes marketed using sanitary notifications belonging to different products, cosmetics lacking required sanitary notifications, and poor storage and organization conditions. In the El Batán parish, 235 items were seized due to expired sanitary notifications and skin gels with labeling that did not match the actual contents.

Arcsa is proceeding with administrative measures for both establishments. The agency noted that the Mandatory Sanitary Notification (NSO) is essential for identifying products and ensuring compliance with health requirements.
